25 year old non-profit, Focus On Literacy, Inc. offers literacy technique training for groups. Training is modified according to the education level and maturation of each particular training class and is available 7 days and evenings. To prepare to tutor requires only 5 hours.  

Focus on Literacy partners with social service agencies, church, community, business and school/youth organizations.  Children as young as 4th grade have successfully trained to tutor & mentor children in the 1st grade.  Literate welfare recipients & prison inmates have also been trained to provide peer tutoring.  Additionally,  Focus On Literacy is a Professional Development Provider for the NJ State Department of Education so educators may earn annually required Continuing Education units."
